“Mochila” is Spanish for bag. A Wayuu mochila is something else: one artisan hand-crochets a continuous spiral of thread over days of work. Small variations are part of the craft, so no two pieces are exactly alike.

Yaritza is a young and talented weaver from La Guajira, Colombia. At just 21 years old, she has dedicated her life to mastering traditional Wayuu weaving techniques. She learned the art from her grandmother and has been crafting beautiful mochilas since her early teens.
Yaritza's creations are known for their vibrant colors and intricate patterns, reflecting the stories and symbols of the Wayuu culture. She is passionate about keeping her heritage alive and inspiring other young artisans in her community.

How do I choose the right size?
Use the Size & what fits guide above to compare approximate measurements, strap length and everyday capacity. Because every bag is handwoven, measurements can vary by about 1–5 cm and straps can relax slightly with use.
How does it close?
Crossbody, tote and beach mochilas close with a woven drawstring and tassels. Pull the cords together to secure the opening—simple to use, with no zip to fight with.
What is it made from and can I wash it?
Each bag is handwoven in Colombia with durable Colombian acrylic thread. Hand washing in cool water is the safest option for every piece. Reshape while damp, air dry and do not tumble dry. If this product’s Bag details explicitly says “Gentle cold machine wash,” use a low spin.
What if it isn’t right for me?
For a change of mind, contact support@mochila.au within 30 days of delivery. You pay the tracked return postage to Brisbane; after the bag is received and inspected, choose a full refund of the returned item price or an available replacement sent with free standard shipping.
If the bag arrives faulty, damaged or incorrect, contact us with your order number and photos. We cover reasonable return postage where a return is required, and your Australian Consumer Law rights are not limited to 30 days.
